Islanders! (Where No One is an Island) At Volunteering Hebrides (Befriending Lewis & Harris)

Islanders! (Where No One is an Island) Social Inclusion & Telephone Befriending Project

Islanders! (Where No One is an Island) is a ground-breaking project, whose aim is to tackle loneliness and social isolation in Lewis & Harris through the provision of a broad range of social and group activities. The project also incorporates an established telephone befriending service.

The Islanders! Project has been created as a natural evolution of the award-winning work of Befriending Lewis & Harris, which has worked to reduce loneliness in our community since its launch in 2015.

Our mission is to empower people who are suffering from the impact of feelings of loneliness and isolation to feel connected to other people in a positive way again. Everyone is different, and we help people find the best way for them to feel less lonely and isolated, take control of their lives again, and feel part of their community.

We’d love to hear from you if you’d like to find out more about our social group events or our telephone befriending service. This is a completely free service and is open to anyone living on Lewis & Harris.

We’d also love to hear from you if you'd like to discuss volunteering opportunities with us.
